Dr. M. Don, 68, formerly of Roanoke, died Monday Aug. 11, 1997, in Bluefield, W.Va.
He lived and worked most of his life in Virginia as an educator. While living in Roanoke, he worked for the Roanoke City School from 1965 to 1980, serving part of that time as superintendent of schools. Dr. Pack graduated from Concord College in Athens, W.Va. and went on to receive his doctorate degree from the University of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a past member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, Roanoke. Dr. Pack was an avid golfer and member of the Greenbrier Country Club in Chesapeake.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Angles Pack; daughters, Sarah L. Boelte and her husband, William, Susan L. Weir and husband, John, Molly A. Pack and Ibby A. Pack; six grandchildren; brothers, Dan Pack, Wendell Pack, Harold Pack and Johnny Pack; and a sister, Betty Marie Stepp.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at John M. Oakey and Son Chapel, Salem, by the Rev. Ira Tolliver. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 3433 Brambleton Ave., S.W., Suite 210B, Roanoke, Va. 24018.
