POLICE RECAPTURE FEMALE SUSPECT SOON AFTER ESCAPE IN PORTSMOUTH

An 18-year-old woman under arrest for a narcotics violation escaped from police Thursday morning while using a restroom at Portsmouth General Hospital, police said.

She was recaptured shortly afterward without incident, according to detective Amber Whittaker, police spokeswoman.

Amanda Bond of the 6700 block of Burbage Lake Circle in Suffolk had been taken to the hospital after she complained of an ankle injury.

She is charged with possession of suspected heroin, possession of suspected marijuana and felony escape, Whittaker said. KEYWORDS: DRUGS ILLEGAL ESCAPE ARREST
