VIRGINIA J. SANDIFER

Mrs. Virginia Jones Sandifer of the 2400 block of Tazewell St. departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, in Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born in Rustburg, Va., to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Jones. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, South Lynchburg, where she served as a deaconess.

She was educated in the Campbell County School System. She was employed at Randolph-Macon Woman's College and later retired from the Lynchburg City School System.

She was preceded in death by a son, Fletcher E. Sandifer; and a daughter, Clyda S. Bradley.

In addition to her husband, the Rev. Thomas A. Sandifer Sr., she is survived by a son, Thomas A. Sandifer Jr. and his wife, Virgie, of Suffolk; two daughters, Gladys S. Turner of Fairfield, Conn., and Janice S. Warwick of Lynchburg; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, South Lynchburg, with the Rev. Winston R. Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery and the cortege will assemble at the residence. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Community Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
