PENN W. CUMMINGS

Penn Withers Cummings, 49, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital. He died as he lived - with faith, courage and dignity and with the love of his family.

Mr. Cummings was born in Henrico County, Va., and was the son of the late R. Ward and Nancy Withers Cummings.

Mr. Cummings was a district sales manager for the Hampton Roads area for the Kennametal Co. for 17 years. He was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church and the Co-Ed III and IV Sunday school classes. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife, Marcia Neal Cummings; his daughter, Sarah; his son, Paul; his brothers, Richard (Rusty) W. Cummings of Dumfries, Va., and Christopher P. Cummings and his wife, Ann, of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law, Kenneth G. Rhodes and his wife, Sharon, of Chesapeake; his brother-in-law, Clyde P. Neal III and his wife, Cathy, of Virginia Beach. Survivors also include his parents-in-law, Clyde and Selene Neal of Norfolk; his maternal aunt and uncle, Betsy and Frank Booker of Virginia Beach; a niece; four nephews; and four cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. David Shelton. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Portsmouth-Chesapeake unit, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
