Soon G. Eng Wong, 83, of the 4700 block of Haygood Point Road, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997.
Born in Canton, China, she moved to Norfolk in 1950 and owned and operated the Norfolk Noodle Factory, Chinese American Import Co., with her husband, Park F. Wong, until they sold the business in 1990. She was a member of the First Chinese Baptist Church and the Chinese Community Association.
Survivors include her husband, Park F. Wong; three sons, Arthur S. Wong of Virginia Beach, Edward S. Wong of Virginia Beach and David S. Wong of Chesapeake; daughter, Jenny Wong-Slaughter of Virginia Beach; sister, Wai Kuen Ng Lee of Norfolk; three daughters-in-law, Ida C. Wong, Ping H.C. Wong and May C. Wong; a son-in-law, Mark E. Slaughter; eight grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Pastor Brian R. McDonald. The family will be at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Virginia Beach, today from 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Chinese Community Center, 722 Newtown Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462 or to the First Chinese Baptist Church, 228 Pritchard Road, P.O. 8848, Virginia Beach, Va. 23450.
