LOUIS DALE KING

Louis Dale King, 93, of the 600 block of Piney Point Road, passed on Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, in his home.

Born in Illinois in 1904 and raised in Oklahoma and Texas, he served in the National Guard during the early 1920s. He brought Dr. Pepper to the East Coast by installing the first Dr. Pepper bottling plant in Roanoke, Va., in 1936. A member of the Elks for many years, he moved from Miami in 1970 to retire in the Virginia Beach area.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Stella Juanita (Atkison); one daughter, Jacquelyn Dale King of Virginia Beach; three sons, Larry Don King and his wife, Mary, of Jupiter, Fla., Foy Merle King and Madelyn of Montebello, Va. and Gary Alvin King and his wife, Ruth Anne, of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Unity Renaissance minister Judy Meyers will officiate at a memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the family residence with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad, 3608 South Plaza Trail, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
