ELEANOR S. JENKINS

Eleanor Kincaid (Starke) Jenkins, 84, died Aug. 15, 1997.

Mrs. Jenkins was born in Charlotte, the daughter of A. Douglas Kincaid and Lucy Holladay Kincaid. The family lived in Norfolk where she debuted and was an active member of the Junior League. She married Edward Dabney Starke Jr. and moved with him to Raleigh in 1948. They joined White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where for many years she was an active member and volunteer. In the early 1990s, she received the Presbyterian Women's Lifetime Membership. Mrs. Jenkins was also active in the Raleigh Junior League.

After Mr. Starke's death in 1963, she worked as an EKG technician at Rex Hospital, where she also performed over 1000 hours of volunteer service. She worked as a proofreader for many years at the N.C. state legislature. In 1977, she married Edward Lee Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her daughter, Eleanor ``Douggie'' Starke Evans and son-in-law, Richard P. Evans of Suffolk; a stepson, Edward Lee Jenkins Jr. and his wife, Nancy Jenkins of Charlotte; sisters-in-law, Sue Kincaid of Charlotte and Corinne Starke of Virginia Beach; two nieces and three nephews.
