CRIME LINE

Virginia Beach

On July 19, about 11 a.m., a man robbed the manager of the Sav-A-Ton service station in the 3500 block of Holland Road.

The suspect had been seen earlier that morning using the pay phone in front of the station.

As the manager, carrying a bank deposit bag, left the station to get into a car, the robber approached. He displayed a silver handgun and demanded the bag.

After getting the money, the robber ran north toward Chantry Drive and Walthan Circle.

He is about 27 years old and is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 190 pounds, with a muscular build. He wore a camouflage hat and pants, a black T-shirt and black boots.

Norfolk

On June 19, about 5:30 a.m., a home in the 8800 block of Chesapeake Blvd. was robbed and a Norfolk woman was abducted and murdered.

Two masked men with guns broke into the home, and two occupants escaped. When police arrived, they discovered that the third occupant, Tiffany Woods, 20, and her car were missing. The home had been ransacked.

That evening, police recovered Woods' white Nissan Maxima parked behind some apartments in the 3700 block of E. Princess Anne Road.

Woods' body was found on June 22 in a stolen blue van parked in the 200 block of Tunstall Ave. Police have determined that two men, both described only as black, were seen leaving the van before the body was found inside.

The cause of death has not been released for investigative reasons.

Police believe there are people who can identify suspects in this case, but that they may be fearful about coming forward. Crime Line guarantees the anonymity of people who provide information.

Newport News

Police are investigating three cases of indecent exposure that are believed to have been committed by the same man.

All the offenses occurred between 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. in the Denbigh area.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, with red hair cut in a flat-top style. He also had a mustache.

On all three occasions, he was seen driving a newer model, black four-door vehicle.

Investigators ask that anyone with information about this man's identity, or anyone who sees someone matching this description, call the Newport News Crime Line. ILLUSTRATION: Drawing
