BOOK PUSHES CHILDREN'S CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION

GOT SCISSORS? Got paper? Then get this book, ``Cut-Paper Play!,'' by Sandi Henry. It's packed full of creative ideas using construction paper - paper folding, collages, torn paper designs, mobiles, quilling and two-dimensional art.

This latest in Williamson Publishing Company's Kids Can! series is a great book to whisk out on those days when kids mope and say they have nothing to do.

Each imaginative project is rated with one, two or three scissors to show the level of difficulty. That makes it easy to see how much parent or older sibling involvement will be necessary. For many simple projects, the answer is none at all. There are wonderful suggestions for cut paper still lifes or tracing work, cute puppets and a whole section of seasonal and holiday projects.

The big, bold black and white illustrations, easy-to-follow graphics and instructions make this how-to book a joy to have in the house. Boxed suggestions push the inspired child to carry her project further and offer readers curious historical or scientific facts.

This neat paperback is for ages 4-10 and costs $12.95. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
