BEULAH R. RICE

Beulah Riddick Rice, 59, of the 700 block of Vellines Ave., died Aug. 15, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

A native of the city of Chesapeake, formerly Norfolk County, she was the lead night supervisor housekeeper at CBN University for 11 years service retiring two years ago. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, Chesapeake, and Mother of the Church, a trustee, church treasurer, missionary, former church clerk, and also secretary of the General Union Pentecostal Churches, U.S.A. She was a member of the NAACP, Southside Civic League and American Association of Retired Persons. She was named Employee of the Year and received the President's Award from CBN University.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice D. Rice-Littlejohn, Myra Evette Rice, Keesha Vornette Rice; two sons, Winford Kenneth Rice Sr., Tracy Laviere Rice; three sisters, Evelena Perry, Katie Baker, Eula Brooks; three brothers, Wright Riddick, William Ivory Riddick, Joe S. Riddick Sr.; grandchildren, Laviere D. Rice, Lavaughn D. Rice, Michael A. Rice, Jasmine W. Rice, Winston M. Rice, Courtney M. Rice, Winford K. Rice Jr., Marquita M. Rice, Nicole R. Rice; great-grandchild, Laviere D. Rice Jr.; uncle, Calvin Gray; aunts, Pauline Johnson, Gladys Pace, Beulah Gray; mother-in-law, Alice C. Rice, formerly married to James A. Rice; and a host of nieces, nephews, families and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary-Etta Riddick and Charles Major Riddick.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, Chesapeake, by Bishop John H. Kindred. Burial will be in Riddick Family Cemetery. The family will accept visitors at 720 Vellines Ave., Chesapeake 23324, where family and friends will also assemble at noon Wednesday for the procession. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
