WILLIAM E. BLAYTON

William ``Bill'' Edwin Blayton, 64, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997.

He was born in Newport News, Va., and moved to Maryland 17 years ago. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Newport News High School and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He began a 35-year career with Lavino Shipping Co., first boarding ships in Newport News. He transferred to Norfolk and lived there for many years and later was vice president in the Baltimore office. He continued his career as a vice president with Fillette, Green and Co., Baltimore. Bill was an active member of Glen Burnie Baptist Church, where he taught a young adults Sunday School class and was a member of various church committees. He was also on the board of directors of Shipley's Choice Community Association. He was a member of numerous shipping organizations including the Traffic and Propeller Club.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Walter Blayton of the home; his daughter, Tanya Lynn Blayton of Annapolis, Md.; his mother, Ida Blayton of Peachtree City, Ga.; two sisters, Alice Amory of Grafton, Carolee Woolard of Las Vegas; three brothers, Newell H. Blayton of Altanta, Maurice G. Blayton of Peachtree City, Wayne Richard Blayton of Newport News.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Glen Burnie Baptist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Memorials may be made to Mary Immaculate Hospice, 2 Bernardine Drive, Newport News, Va. 23602.
