Hymon H. Harris, 63, of Virginia Beach, died Aug. 17, 1997, in his residence.
Mr. Harris was a native of Beaufort County, N.C. He was the son of the late Dallas R. Harris and Nellie Hodges Harris and was preceded in death by a brother, Lemuel ``Red'' Harris.
Hymon worked in the seafood business most of his life. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Imogene Culver Harris; three daughters, Delores F. Maitland, Robin K. Dodd, both of Virginia Beach, Annette H. Adams of Chesapeake; a brother, L. Alva Harris of Virginia Beach; a sister, Vernell H. Winstead of Washington, N.C.; an aunt, Henrietta Bell of Pantego, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery by Dr. James L. Mahaffey, pastor of Foundry United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the At Home Care Hospice, Oxford Square, 1450 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23464 or the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
