J. FLOYD ROGERS

J. Floyd Rogers, 92, of the 6700 block of Whaleyville Blvd. died Aug. 19, 1997.

A native of Nansemond County, he was a son of the late James Jesse and Martha Elma Williams Rogers. Mr. Rogers was retired from the A&P Peanut Co. and had been a self-employed painter and barber. He was a member of the Great Fork Baptist Church and a former member of the Whaleyville Ruritan Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Phillips Babb Rogers; a daughter, Jeannette R. Fowler of Suffolk; two grandsons, Mark R. and Mike L. Fowler of Suffolk; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Baines, John Jennings and Nicholas Fowler.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Steven F. Siegrist. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at his daughter's home, 6709 Whaleyville Blvd. Memorial donations may be made to the Great Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 180 Great Fork Road, Suffolk, Va. 23438.
