JOHN T. CROSS

John Thomas Cross, 84, of the 1400 block of Holland Road died Aug. 18, 1997.

A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late John Thomas Cross Sr. and Grace Wright Cross. Mr. Cross was a retired pipefitter at the Norfolk Navy Yard. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Men's Bible Class, the HAC-Senior Citizens Group and Bethlehem Ruritan Club.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey S. Cross; three daughters and their husbands, Jean and Delton Walker, Grace Ann and Harold Vick, all of Suffolk, Mary and Bruce Baker of Franklin; three sons and their wives, Tom and Betty Cross, Raymond and Gwen Cross, all of Suffolk, Jimmy and Ellen Cross of Chesapeake; sister, Elizabeth Holland of Suffolk; seven grandchildren, Floyd Vick, Marie Baggett, Michael Walker, Jason and Brian Cross, Jamie Cross, Steven Baker; and three great-grandchildren, Joey, Valerie Vick and Kelsi Walker. Mr. Cross was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Hines Cross.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Revs. Wayne Gardner and Doug Gibson. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O.
