NELLIE R. HURT

Nellie Respess Hurt, 69, of the 4000 block of Oak Drive passed away peacefully in her home Aug. 19, 1997.

She was a native of Tarboro, N.C., and was retired from the library procurement for Tidewater Community College Frederick Campus. A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, Esther Chapter No. 37, Order of the Eastern Star, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 9382 in Suffolk.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Lewis Hurt Jr.; daughter, Patty Manning and her husband, Ernie, of Portsmouth; son, Arthur Jackson and his wife, Gail, of Manassas; stepdaughter, Judy Hurt of Reidsville, N.C.; stepson, Tommy Hurt and his wife, Patsy, of Reidsville; sister, Margaret Garris and her husband, Clayton, of Chesapeake; brothers, Bill Respess and his wife, Sylvia, Donald Respess and his wife, Cindy, all of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Heather Priddy and her husband, Scott, Chris Jackson, Amy Jackson, Amber DeBusk and her husband, Brian; great-granddaughters, Madelyn DeBusk and Jacquelynn Duff.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and Linwood Daniel. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions to the building fund of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4320 Bruce Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23321.
