Robert Dudley Smith, 63, of Kempsville Greens Parkway died Aug. 19, 1997.

A native of Greensboro, N.C., he was a general sales manager for Capes Shipping Agencies. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a graduate of Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Smith; daughter, Beth Smith of Virginia Beach; son, Bruce Smith of High Point, N.C.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 717 Tucson Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Danny J. Kesner. Burial will be private at a later date in Greensboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach S.P.C.A. or to the Red Cloud Indian School c/o Father William McKenney S.J., Holy Rosary Mission, HC 49, Box 100, Pine Ridge, S.D. 57770-9710.
