Paul Wesley Herndon, 77, of the 3100 block of Chesapeake Blvd., died Aug. 21, 1997.
Born in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Herndon retired 14 years ago as a rigger for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 26 years' service. He was the son of Ruth Moss and Sherman W. Herndon.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucy L. Herndon; two daughters, Pauline H. Hood, Shirley M. Billups; a son, Sherman W. Herndon; 14 grandchildren, Andre Billups, Rhonda Hood, Shelton Hood, Sherwood Herndon, Pamela Billups, Shermanda Poole, Terry Illa, Shirnita Billups, Tracy Hood, Tamara Jones, Willie Billups, Valerie Billups, Keith Herndon, Tim Becknell; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. He was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Jones and brothers, Willie Moss and Hurbert Moss.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in the chapel of Hale Funeral Home by Bishop Anthony Moses. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 3108 Chesapeake Blvd. and will assemble there at 11 a.m. the day of the service. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
