Byron Lee Carey, 78, of the 3200 block of Galberry Road, died Aug. 22, 1997, in Portsmouth.
He was born in Norfolk County, Deep Creek, and was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church and its Wesleyman Bible Class and was active in the Cradock Lions Club for many years. He retired from Portsmouth Lumber Co.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dunn Carey; two daughters, Gail C. Pebworth and her husband, Richard A. Sr. of Chesapeake, N. Janie Bozeman and husband, Jerry C. of Chesapeake; two grandsons, Richard Allan Pebworth Jr., Byron Lee Pebworth, both of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Bradford L. Phillips. Burial will be in Carey Family Cemetery. The family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Deep Creek United Methodist Church Building Fund. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
