Elizabeth Land Cherry, 89, of the 1500 block of Little Horseshoe Drive, died Aug. 23, 1997, in her residence.
She was the retired owner and operator of Cherry Cottages & Motel. Mrs. Cherry was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosalee C. Jewell and her husband, Harvey; one son, L. Wilson Cherry Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Mathews, Va.; one sister, Virginia Burmock; five grandchildren, Randy Gillan, and Michelle and Shawn McArdle of Virginia Beach, Kimberly Croxton of Mathews, and Woody Cherry of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Tyler McArdle and Tiffany Croxton; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Dr. Paul Bailey and Rev. David Ford followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A.
