CRIME LINE

NORFOLK

On Monday, Aug. 18, just after midnight, three employees from the Hooters restaurant in the 1100 block of North Military Highway were taking trash to a dumpster when they were confronted by three men armed with guns.

The gunmen forced the employees back inside where they hoped to steal money from the safe. But after attempts by the robbers to open the safe failed, the trio fled.

The first suspect is described as black, 30, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds. He wore a mask, a black T-shirt and blue shorts.

The second suspect is described as black, 30, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He wore a mask, a dark T-shirt and light-colored shorts.

There was no description of the third suspect.

Portsmouth

On Aug. 10, about 3:20 a.m., police were called to the 2500 block of Bird Lane on a report that a man had been shot.

They found Jermaine Faison, who died at the scene.

Police believe Faison received his wounds while in the first block of Choctaw Drive, in the Norport Apartments. He then fled to or was taken to Bird Lane, where he died.

Police also learned that around the time of the shooting, someone fired shots into an apartment in the first block of Choctaw Drive while a family slept inside. No one was injured.

On July 26, about 9 p.m., two suspects entered Philadelphia Cold Cuts located in the 2300 block of King St.

Both men displayed weapons. One jumped over the counter and demanded money from the owner but was frightened off when the owner threatened to get his gun. Both suspects left empty-handed.

The first suspect is described as black, in his early 30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a red bandana, a red shirt and dark pants. The second suspect is described as black, in his early 30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, dark jeans and ballcap.

Virginia Beach

The Bank of Tidewater located in the 2200 block of West Great Neck Road was robbed Aug. 11, about 11:40 a.m.

A man approached a teller with a demand note. Money was placed in a green shaving bag and the robber took it and left the bank. He got into a waiting car, described as a light blue, four-door, Nissan Stanza.

The suspect is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a mustache and light brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, black boots and a construction hat and sunglasses.

Chesapeake

On July 18, about 3 p.m., a woman was robbed while in the parking lot near the City Hall building in Great Bridge.

She was locking her vehicle when a man came up to her, grabbed her purse from her hand and fled. The victim could not provide a description of the suspect because the incident happened so fast.

On July 18, about 10 p.m., a man entered a home in the 2100 block of Old Gum Road through a back door.

The man, who wore a camouflage mask, confronted the woman who lives there. He displayed a semiautomatic handgun and demanded money. When the woman did not comply, the gunman fired two shots toward the floor, one of which struck the victim in her foot. He fled.

He is described only as 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. KEYWORDS: ROBBERY
