WILLIE M. COBB SR.

Willie M. Cobb Sr., 61, of the 1100 block of S. Carrington Crescent, died Aug. 25, 1997 in Maryview Hospital.

Born in Almon, Ga., he had retired as a supervisor after 23 years with Portsmouth Naval Commissary. He was also retired after 20 years with the U.S. Army; his final rate was E-7, sergeant first class. Mr. Cobb was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, where he organized and directed the annual Martin Luther King Celebration.

Survivors include his wife, Frances V. Cobb; three daughters, Gayle (Frank) Daniel, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; Phyllis B. (Connie) Walton, of Chesapeake, and Felecia F. Harold of Richmond; a foster daughter, Cynthia L. Montgomery of Chesapeake; two sons, Willie M. Cobb Jr. of Marietta, Ga., and Antoine P. Cobb of Alexandria; three sisters, Florida Morris and Bennie M. Payne, both of Decatur, Ga., and Jennie R. Weldon of Fortson, Ga.; one brother, John H. (Irene) Cobb of Atlanta; eight grandchildren and one expected; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Morning Star Baptist Church by the Rev. C.H. Williams. Burial will take place in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Wednesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
