Gunman robs bank,
and escapes with
bag of money
An armed man robbed a bank Monday by forcing a manager to lie on the floor while he ordered a teller to stuff money into a bag, police reported late Monday.
The robber, carrying a small black handgun, entered the Life Savings Bank at 2008 Cromwell Drive about 10:40 Monday morning and went directly to the assistant manager, Norfolk police said.
After ordering her to lie on the floor, the robber tossed a white plastic bag to a teller and demanded cash. After the teller put money into the bag, the robber ran out of the bank and turned east, police said.
The man was described as black, about 29, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 145 pounds and wearing a dark blue jump suit, dark blue ball cap and dark glasses with gold rims. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 664-4040. PORTSMOUTH
