Pier fishing along the northern beaches was fairly good Tuesday.
Anglers on Kitty Hawk Pier caught bluefish and Spanish mackerel early in the morning and spot the rest of the day.
Spanish mackerel, bluefish and spot were landed on Avalon Pier.
Nags Head Pier reported good spot fishing late Monday afternoon. Spot, a few bluefish and a few spadefish were caught by fishermen on Jennette's Pier.
Good numbers of spot and scattered sea mullet were caught by fishermen on Jennette's Pier.
Outer Banks Pier anglers caught spot two at a time for a short period during the morning. A 39-pound cobia was hauled in later in the day by A.J. Dingus of Manteo.
South of Oregon Inlet, fishermen on Rodanthe Pier caught scattered spot, sea mullet and bluefish.
Avon Pier reported a few small bottom fish taken.
A few flounder, sea mullet and pompano were taken during the morning on Frisco Pier. A handful of blues, Spanish mackerel and false albacore were landed from the end of the pier in the afternoon.
Surf fishermen along the northern beaches and around Oregon Inlet caught quite a few small spot and sea mullet on bloodworms Tuesday.
Croaker and spot were beached in good numbers from Oregon Inlet to Buxton.
A few nice puppy drum were landed at Cape Point early Tuesday morning. Small bottom fish were caught in the surf during the day.
Puppy drum and trout fishing were good around Hatteras Inlet late Monday evening. Small bluefish, flounder, a few trout and pompano were landed by surf fishermen from Ramp 55 to Hatteras Inlet off and on Tuesday.
Inshore trolling around Oregon Inlet was slow. Headboats in the area caught pigfish and croaker.
Gulf Stream fishing off Oregon Inlet was scrappy. Charters landed a few tuna and dolphin and released some billfish.
Releases included two blue marlin by the Outer Limits, a white marlin by the Sizzler and a sailfish by the Osprey. Most of the action was near the point.
Scattered Spanish mackerel and bluefish were taken by charters trolling in the Hatteras Inlet area.
Blue water fishermen off Hatteras landed scattered wahoo, tuna and a few dolphin. A white marlin and a sailfish were released by the Hatteras Fever.
The water temperature was 74 degrees Tuesday at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck and 77 degrees at the Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island.
