RUTH HENRY GALLOP TILLETT

On Aug. 26, 1997, Ruth Tillett left this world to join her loved ones who went before her - a son, Earl; and grandson, Joshua, will be especially glad to welcome her home.

Mrs. Tillett, 86, lived a full and simple life surrounded by people who loved her. She belonged to the Eastern Star; Amaranth Coastal Court No. 12; and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an active member of Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church for many years and recently transferred her membership to Thalia United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. She loved the beach, travel, flowers, her friends and family, enjoying their infinite variety and distinct individuality.

Left behind to live without her quick smile and tender hugs are her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bill; grandchildren, Ruthie, Tim, Kathy, Bobby, Brad and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Those who will no longer share Ruth's triumphs and tragedies, her sister, Mae; her nieces turned daughters, Joan and Kay and special nephew Rex will see that her spirit lives in each one of them and is shared with their families.

There are countless family members and friends who will cherish their memories of time spent with Ruth fishing, crabbing, ``puttin' '' up fruit and vegetables, sewing, playing dominoes and cards and just sittin' and rockin'.

We all share bittersweet tears and smiles as we wish our Moma, sister, Nanny, Aunt Ruth and dear friend Godspeed and farewell.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hampton Roads Chapter, 20 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, Va. 23502, Suite 233. At a later date, there will be a private burial by the family at Powells Point Christian Church where Ruth will join her first husband, Bradford Bryan Gallop. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
