HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SET TO TEE IT UP

The high school football season kicks off tonight with second-ranked Indian River playing at Bayside and a rare doubleheader at Lake Taylor.

The Braves are coming off the first undefeated regular-season in school history while Bayside has posted back-to-back losing records.

The doubleheader pits Granby against Cox at 5:30 and Maury against First Colonial at 8. Also tonight Lake Taylor visits Salem.

INDIAN RIVER VS. BAYSIDE

Where: Bayside

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Last year's records: Indian River (9-1); Bayside (2-7)

Analysis: Should be a busy night for David Yerby, the Marlins' All-Tidewater punter.

Pick: Indian River, 27-0

LAKE TAYLOR VS. SALEM

Where: Salem

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Last year's records: Lake Taylor (2-8); Salem (4-6)

Analysis: A matchup of two great special teams performers, Salem PK Kevin Miller and Lake Taylor return man Ronyell Whitaker.

COX VS. GRANBY

Where: Lake Taylor

Time: 5:30 p.m.

Last year's records: Cox (5-5); Granby (5-5)

Analysis: Veteran linebacking corps gives Comets the edge.
