MAXINE JEFFERSON

Maxine Jefferson, 77, of the 2900 block of E. Indian River Road died Wednesday Aug. 27, 1997, in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Jefferson was born in Beaufort County, N.C., and was the widow of Leslie F. Jefferson.

She was a loving mother of three, Geraldine J. Payne, Joan Goin and John F. Jefferson, all of Chesapeake, and adopted mother of many others; grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of four. She is also survived by three sisters, Pearl Hanson of Houston, Doris Jackson of Pinetown, N.C., and Almeda Gurganus of Robersonville, N.C.; and a brother, Sterling Lamb of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in the Scuppernong Church of Christ in Scuppernong, N.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
