Leonard Haywood Farless, 82, of the 300 block of Hermitage Road, died Aug. 31, 1997, in Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Mr. Farless was a local farmer and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Colerain. He was the son of the late Fannie Lawrence and Lonnie Edward Farless and the husband of Agnes Cullipher Farless.
Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sarah Lynn Harrell, and her husband, Richard, of Merry Hill; a son, Gene Clark and his wife, Rita, of Kinston, N.C.; two sisters, Flo Burt of Huntersville, N.C., and Clio Hawkins of Garner, N.C.; a brother, Edward Farless of Merry Hill; and five grandchildren, Christina Zoltek, Scott A. Clark, Lyman Harrell, Rosanna Harrell and Amanda Page Poole.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Riverside Baptist Church, Colerain, with the Rev. Dennis Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Evans Funeral Home, Edenton, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Riverside Baptist Church or the American Heart Association. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
