James Robert Gilbert, 84, of the 200 block of South Newtown Road, died Aug. 31, 1997, after a long illness. Mr. Gilbert was a native of West Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Norman Gilbert.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patricia S. Harp, and her husband, Reno Harp III; two stepgrandchildren, G. Franklin Stewart Jr., of Alexandria and Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Stewart of Virginia Beach; one stepgreat-grandchild, Elizabeth Morgan Stewart; three children, Nancy G. Duncan, James R. Gilbert Jr. of Bluefield, Va. and Helen G. Mitchell of Bluefield, W.Va.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
