Brother John L. Chappell, 90, of the 2700 block of Arcadia Ave., died Aug. 28, 1997.
He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth, and Brighton Rock Lodge No. 133, Prince Hall of Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Chappell; a son, Linwood Winfield; a brother, Charles Chappell; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth by the Rev. Warren E. Amlet. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will be at Fisher Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The family will also assemble at the residence at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for the procession.
