HAROLD E. PHILLIPS

Harold Eugene Phillips, 61, died Tuesday Sept. 2, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

He was born in Cherokee County, S.C., the son of the late Eddie Lee and Eva Estelle Phillips. He was employed with the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority and a member of Colonial Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta S. Phillips of the home; two daughters, Deborah J. LaShomb of Moyock, N.C., Elizabeth F. Graham of Alta Monte Springs, Fla.; a son, Michael Allen Phillips of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two stepsons, Roger LaDon Baker Jr. of Kenyon Lake, Texas, Jeffrey Scott Baker of Chesapeake; four sisters, Mildred ``Mickey'' Morris of Columbia, S.C., Doris Demors of Salina, Kansas, Irene Elders of Columbia, S.C. and Virginia Dial Gantt of Redbank, S.C.; two brothers, Roland Columbus of Forest City, N.C., Jack S. Phillips of Columbia, S.C.; and 12 grandchildren. Mr. Phillips was predeceased by a son, David E. Phillip.

A funeral will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday in Colonial Baptist Church by the Rev. Daniel Davey and the Rev. Keith Davey. Burial will follow in Moyock Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Twiford Funeral Home, Great Bridge, Chesapeake.
