COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG MAY LAY OFF WORKERS: The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation may cut between 50 and 75 positions by year's end, Foundation President Robert C. Wilburn said in a letter to employees this week. The cut would represent less than 2 percent of the foundation's work force of 3,500. ``We believe that many of those reductions can be achieved through attrition, by not filling positions that are currently vacant, and with transfers,'' Wilburn said. The planned layoffs are part of the foundation's long-term efforts to control costs.
