C. William Pollard, author and chairman of ServiceMaster, will speak next week at Regent University about effective business management.
Pollard also will receive the university's third ``Servant Leadership Award,'' recognizing business and industry leaders who demonstrate a commitment to certain religious leadership principles.
He wrote ``The Soul of the Firm'' and plans to share some of his management techniques during a noon presentation Sept. 11.
ServiceMaster began in 1929 as a moth-proofing company, founded by a former minor league baseball player. Today, the Fortune 500 company provides various services to homeowners, health care, educational and industrial clients.
Previous Servant Award winners were S. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A restaurants, and Ken Melrose, chief executive officer of Toro Co., maker of lawn and outdoor equipment.
Regent's Executive Speaker Series events are open to the public and free, although reservations are required. For details, call 579-4385.
