MAURY HOPES TROTTER WILL BOOST OFFENSE

It's not often that a player rushes for more than 100 yards one week and loses his job the next but that is sort of what's happened to Maury's Adrian West.

West rushed for 111 yards in the Commodores' 7-0 victory over First Colonial last week. But with Greg Trotter returning from an injury, West moves from tailback to fullback for tonight's game.

Maury coach Gene Boley hopes Trotter will jumpstart an offense that has scored seven points or fewer in 21 of the past 32 games.

Maury compensated for its lack of punch last week by unveiling a 4-4 defensive scheme that held the Patriots to 59 yards rushing. Special teams also played a key role as Justin Gunderson punted nine times for a 37-yard average.

Green Run was idle last week giving coach Johnny White a third opportunity to scout Maury.

``They crowd the line daring you to throw and that's exactly what we're going to do,'' White says.

The Stallions have a veteran quarterback in Charles Wilson and one of the area's top receiving threats in tight end Ben Root.

Pick: Maury, 10-6. Defense and special teams carry Commodores.
