MEYER J. MAND

Meyer Joseph Mand, 87, of the 700 block of River Road and a resident of Norfolk until 1995, died Sept. 4, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington.

He was born March 17, 1910, in Norfolk and was a member of Congregation Beth El, Norfolk, Norfolk No. 1 AF&AM, Khedive Shrine. Mr. Mand retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance as a salesman with 13 years of service. He worked within the circulation division of The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star for 25 years and was also a small business owner. He was the son of the late Jacob Mand and Mary Burland.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Mand; two sons, Jeffrey F. Mand of King of Prussia, Pa., Martin G. Mand of Wilmington; a sister, Celia Kaye of Norfolk; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Schoenberg Memorial Chapel, Wilmington, by Rabbi David Wortman and Cantor Judith Nalmark. Burial will be Sunday, Sept. 7, in the Montefiore section of the Jewish Community Cemetery, Foulk Road, Wilmington. Shiva will be observed at the residence of Martin and Shelly Mand, 618 Berwick Road, Edenridge, Wilmington, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday.
