MATTHEW JONES

William Matthew Jones, 61, of the 14000 block of Cabin Point Road, died Sept. 5, 1997, at home.

A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late George Augustus ``Pete'' Jones and Lillian Jones Vaughan. Mr. Jones was an Army veteran and had retired as a sheet finishing machine operator at Union Camp Corp. He was a member of Sedley Baptist Church and was instrumental in starting the Franklin/Southampton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in the fight against cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Morgan Jones; a son, Ronnie Keith Jones and his wife, Lisa Renee; and a grandson, Matthew Arlen Jones.

The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Sunday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
