Police confiscated about $11,000 worth of crack cocaine and made two arrests Thursday night in what they described as a major drug bust.
Arrested were Kevin R. ``Ron'' Jones, 27, of the 500 block of S. Main St. and a 17-year-old who lives in the 300 block of Holladay St. Both were charged with distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The juvenile was also charged with having a firearm while in possession of narcotics.
Members of Suffolk Police Department's special investigations unit and FBI agents arrested the suspects at a local motel about 9:45 p.m. Police would not disclose the location, the number of officers involved or details of the investigation that led to the arrests.
Jones and the teen-ager allegedly arrived at the motel together and sold about 9 ounces of crack, said police spokesman Mike Simpkins. Police would not disclose the name of the buyer, who was not arrested.
Police recovered the money, the drugs that had been sold, nearly 2 additional ounces of crack, and a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun.
Jones and the juvenile were being held in Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond. KEYWORDS: COCAINE ARREST
