Willie Sutton, 72, of the 22000 block of Main Street, died Sept. 6, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Sutton was born in Ewing, Va., son of the late Henly and Effie Ayers Sutton. He was a retired building and grounds supervisor at the Southampton Correctional Center, Capron, Va. He was a member, former deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Courtland Baptist Church. Mr. Sutton was past District Deputy Grand Master for the 32nd Masonic District and present Master of Courtland Lodge No. 85 A.F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosetta McNew Sutton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dannie and Linda Sutton of Franklin, Billy and Debbie Sutton of Capron, Jack and Cathy Sutton of Greensboro, N.C.; six grandchildren, Dannie Sutton Jr., Jeff Sutton, Kevin Sutton, Katie Sutton, Stacy Sutton and Virginia Sutton; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Courtland Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Speight. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Courtland Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O.
