Lester Mitchell Wright, 69, of the 600 block of Meadowview Drive, died Sept. 5, 1997 in his residence after 18 months of declining health.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1927 in Grayson County, Va. and lived most of his live in Danville where he retired from Dan River Mills Inc. after 46 years as a sheetmetal/roofing supervisor in the Schoolfield Division. He was of the Baptist faith and had served with the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Conner-Atkins Wright, whom he married on March 12, 1949; two daughters, Donna Gayle Wright Mayhew of Danville, Brenda Carol Wright of Norfolk; seven brothers, Bill Wright of Fries, Va., Hascal Wright of Willis, Va., Don Wright of Hinesville, Ga., Ronnie Wright and Jack Wright, both of Galax, Va., Dale Wright of Rural Retreat, Va., Clifford Wright of Carroll County, Va.; eight sisters, Alease W. Bryant of Salem, Va., Doris W. Porter of Oldtown, Peggy W. Truitt and Maxine W. Robertson, both of Elon College, N.C., Nancy W. Johnson, Sue W. Lineberry, Christine Wright, all of Galax, Va., Betty W. Taylor of Mount Airy of N.C.; and three grandchildren, Lesley Michelle Mayhew, Ian Alexander Mayhew, and Paige Nicole Mayhew, all of Danville, Va.
He was predeceased by his parents Bruce Wilbur and Gladys Hawks Wright; and two brothers, Ray Wright and Jimmy Wright.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m today in the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, N. Main Street, by the Rev. Daryl Joyce and Mr. Robert Yeaman. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park. The family will be at the residence, 613 Meadowview Drive off Route 58 West. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
