Investigators confiscated 161 marijuana plants here Friday with a street value of $225,475 growing near and around the mobile home of a Hertford man, said Perquimans County Sheriff David Lane.
Cecil Elliot, 53, was charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of cocaine. Officials also confiscated six half-gallon bottles of rum that Elliot was allegedly using to illegally sell mixed drinks from a nightclub on his property known as the Cowboy Club. More charges may be pending, Lane said.
Elliot is being held in Albemarle District Jail in lieu of $9,000 secured bond. Lane said he had been investigating Elliot for two years. KEYWORDS: ARREST DRUGS ILLEGAL
