Lena B. Watson, 69, of the 1300 block of South Carrington Crescent, died Sept. 9, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
Born in Norfolk County, she had retired after 20 years as a cook for Giant Open Air Market. She was a member of United Community Seniors and Divine Baptist Church, Chesapeake. She was a missionary.
Survivors include her husband, Ottaway A. Watson; three daughters, Paulette W. Todd and Robin A. Lawrence, both of Portsmouth, and Bridgette B. Douglas of Covington, Ga.; two sons, Nathaniel Watson and Larry D. Brown, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Georgia M. Cuffee, of Portsmouth; three brothers, Herbert Brown, Winfield Brown and Franklin Brown, all of Portsmouth; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Watson.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Divine Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. J.R. Briggs. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Friday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
