NORFOLK SHERIFF'S VOLUNTEER FORCE GRADUATES

The Norfolk Sheriff's Office will hold a graduation ceremony tonight for its first Auxiliary Force class.

The 23 members of the class are volunteers who help the Sheriff's Office by performing duties such as assisting in the courts and in jail. They are fully trained, like other deputies, spokesman Ed Fiorella said. The members of the force will volunteer 20 to 24 hours a month.

Beginning in May, members trained for four hours twice a week. They completed classes on Thursday.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at Ruffner Middle School, 489 Tidewater Drive. The public is invited. KEYWORDS: NORFOLK SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
