VERNON E. RAMSEY

Vernon E. Ramsey, 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997, at his home.

A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late John C. Ramsey Sr. and Mary Jane Elizabeth Shea Ramsey. When he was a resident of Suffolk, he was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. He was a sales manager, domestic and foreign, for Ramsey Lumber Co. Inc. with his father, John C. Ramsey Sr. Later he owned and operated a produce and packaging company, V. E. Ramsey Inc. in the U.S. and foreign markets.

Survivors include his loving family: wife, Martha Slyoff Ramsey; daughter, Marilynn S. Simon, and son-in-law, Robert C. Simon, of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; sister, Mary Lee Forbes of Norfolk; and brother, John C. Ramsey Jr. of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Suffolk Christian Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Michael Halley, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home is in charge locally.
