James H. Smith, 84, of Holly Hill Lane, died Sept. 10, 1997.
A retired longshoreman, he was a member of Local No. 1248 I.L.A. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Hicks, Irma Rogers, Vernetta Williams and Darlene Jackson; two sons, Vernon Smith Sr. and Nevaughan Smith; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.S. Hampton. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
