Mattie B. Charity of the 2700 block of Hickory St. died Sept. 10, 1997, in her residence.
She was born in Boydton, Va. and was the widow of Columbus Charity. Mrs. Charity was a past member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Norfolk, and member of the Portsmouth Senior Citizens, SEVAMP.
She is survived by a daughter, Katherine C. Smith of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Edward C. Smith Jr., Michael C. Smith; three great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Hale Funeral Home by Dr. LaMonte Newsome. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
