Paul R. Brown, 51, a retired U.S. Navy captain A-6 carrier pilot died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London Court, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Waterford, Conn.
Born in Woburn, Mr. Brown grew up in Woburn, graduating from Arlington Catholic High School in 1964. Paul went on to Boston College, graduating with a degree in arts and science in 1968. He received his master's in administration from George Washington University in 1972, master's in defense analysis in 1978 from MIT and his master's in policy and strategy from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. Paul served on the USS John Kennedy during the Iran crisis and served two tours on the USS Independence. During Desert Storm, Capt. Brown served as the action officer policy adviser with the Joints Chiefs of Staff under General Colin Powell. Capt. Brown received the Legion of Merit award for his dedicated service and contribution to Desert Storm. Capt. Brown was a former teacher at the Naval War College in Rhode Island and was chief of staff at Mat-Wing in Virginia Beach. Mr. Brown was currently a financial adviser for Prudential Securities in Newport, R.I. In Washington, Paul and his wife, Carolann, co-hosted ``Money Talk'' on WBZS radio.
Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife, Carolann Doherty Brown; his two children, Allyson Doherty Brown of Boston and Michael Doherty Brown of Portsmouth, R.I. Mr. Brown was the son of Mary (McElhiney) of Woburn and the late Robert Brown; brother of Nancy Brown of Boston, Betsey Gaudreau of Hamilton, Robert Brown of Woburn, Suzanne Brown of Medford and David Brown of Reading.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 289 Main St., Route 38, Woburn, at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today in Eaton Funeral Home, Needham.
