M. EARL TERRY

M. Earl Terry, 79, died Sept. 13, 1997, in his residence.

Mr. Terry was born in Ridgewood, N.J., and retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the widower of Jean Dorothy Terry and a member of Third Presbyterian Church and Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)60, Ocean View. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a Navy BMC. He bowled on the Senior League at Pinboys in Norfolk and was a former scoutmaster for Troop (NU)9.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan F. Hamer and son-in-law, Randy Hamer of Norfolk, and grandson, Andrew J. Reid of Norfolk; a son, Michael Terry and daughter-in-law, Michele Terry of Virginia Beach; and a sister, Jean E. Terry of Glen Rock, N.J.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk, by the Rev. Steven Cronn. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the American Lung Association, 5349 E. Princess Anne Road, Norfolk.
