CHARLES W. DECKER JR.

Charles W. Decker Jr., 56, of the 8500 block of Old Ocean View Road, died Sept. 13, 1997, in his residence.

Mr. Decker was a native of New Haven, Conn. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Norfolk. He was retired from the US Navy with over 30 years of service and was employed with ISC Inc. since 1989. Mr. Decker was a member of the Radioman Association and the American Legion Post 76 in New Haven, Conn. He was very active in Girl Scouts of the Little Creek Service Unit and former Girl Scout Cookie chairman.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine D. Decker; three daughters, Wilma Sherburne and her husband, Howard Sr. of Norfolk, Lucille Woodroof and her husband, Kirk of Nashville, Tenn., Fiona K. Sutton and her husband, Wayne III of Virginia Beach; his parents, Rita and Charles W. Decker Sr. of New Haven, Conn.; three sisters, Lucille Tuttle and her husband, Raymond of East Haven, Conn., Gloria Hanks and her husband, George Jr. of Meriden, Conn., Marjorie Delvecchio and her husband, Joe of Las Vegas; a brother, William Decker and his wife, Anna of Hamden, Conn.; and three grandchildren, Rudee Sherburne, Chucky Sherburne and Eleni Sutton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey J. Decker.

A Mass of Christian Burial be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by Father Bill Dale. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast, The Gathering Place, P.O. Box 16077, Chesapeake, Va. 23328.
