MAMIE B. BEAMON

Mamie Biggs Beamon, 73, of the 500 block of Hollywood Ave., died Sept. 13, 1997, in Obici Hospital.

She was a native of Suffolk and retired as a teacher's aide from the Suffolk school system. She was the daughter of the late Edward Biggs and Adeliad Joyner Biggs. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she was in the Chapel Choir, Trustees' Wives and D.W. Lamb Sunday School Class. She was a former Suffolk school guard, playground director, Suffolk Beautification Committee member, former member of Nansemond Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Hollywood Jericho Civic League.

Survivors include her husband, John H. Beamon Jr.; two sons, John H. Beamon III of Virginia Beach and Larry E. Beamon of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Starla M. Beamon, Shannon D. Beamon and Justin J. Beamon, all of Virginia Beach, and Chandler M. Beamon of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Adelaide Montgomery of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Maurice Biggs of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Allean Beamon of Virginia Beach; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elnora Beamon and Mrs. Naomi Beamon, both of Suffolk; a brother-in-law, Fred S. Montgomery of Pittsburgh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Metropolitan Baptist Church by Dr. Melvin R. Boone. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
