WILLIAM H. BELANGA

William Howard Belanga, 85, of the 9000 block of Inlet Road, died Sept. 14, 1997.

Mr. Belanga was born in Princess Anne County, and was retired from W.H. Belanga and Associates. He was a current member of Messiah United Methodist Church and was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church for more than 65 years. He served as superintendent of Sunday Schools, chairman of the Administrative Board and the Pastor Parish Relationship Committee. He was currently serving on the President's Advisory Board of Virginia Wesleyan College; served on the Board at Ferrum Junior College and Spartenburg Junior College; served on the Board of Global Ministries for the United Methodist Church for 14 years, from 1957 to 1971; was presently serving on the Board of Missions for the Norfolk District of the United Methodist Church; was president of W.H. Belanga and Associates from 1939 until 1970; honorary member of the Builders and Contractors Exchange and served on the Building Code Board of Appeals; member of the Norfolk United Royal Arch Chapter (NU)1; Knights Templar, Grice Commandery (NU)16; and Khedive Temple, AAONMS.

Survivors include his wife, Doris H. Belanga; a daughter, Mary Belanga Cullipher of Chesapeake; a sister, Virginia Shepherd of Chesapeake; and two grandchildren, Jon Erick Cullipher and Holly C. Hill.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. O.H. Burton, the Rev. William Joseph Shepherd and the Rev. M. Wayne Snead. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
