BERTHA G. DAVIS SCOTT

Bertha G. Davis Scott, 91, formerly of Chesapeake, died Sept. 13, 1997, in a local nursing home.

She was born Jan. 8, 1906 in Pearisburg, Va., daughter of the late Benjamin and Frances Whitaker Davis and the wife of the late William Brice Scott. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. Bertha was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Chesapeake. She was retired from Goodwill Industries where she served as business manager in both Norfolk and Chesapeake.

Survivors include her children, Paul O. Scott and his wife Carolyn of Charlottesville, Richard A. Scott and his wife Dolly of Portsmouth, Lois A. Hill and her husband Robert of Raleigh, N.C., Robert M. Scott and wife Faye of Chesapeake, Theodore A. ``Ted'' Scott and his wife Linda of Baltimore, Md., and Donald B. Scott of Houston, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Houston officiating and assisted by Deryl Scott. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hill and Wood Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
